I’m Mark Carranceja, a multidisciplinary artist, media producer, and educator. As a DJ and music producer, I go by Kuryente—a name that means electricity in Tagalog. I chose this moniker as a return to my roots and culture, reinforcing my identity as both a creative professional and an interdisciplinary thought leader.

My artistic journey began in Brooklyn, New York, in the late 1980s and early 1990s—a time when underground Hip Hop, Techno, rave, skate culture, and street art shaped the city’s creative pulse. Immersed in this environment, I developed a vision rooted in defying convention and a relentless pursuit of originality. DJing became my first creative outlet, starting with Hip Hop before expanding into Drum & Bass and Techno. At the same time, cinema served as a parallel force, influencing the distinct creative language I express today.

Hip Hop culture instilled an entrepreneurial mindset that led me to launch Noisemaker Media, a media production company dedicated to boundary-pushing, thought-provoking content. My work fuses technology, art, and culture, embracing emerging platforms and innovative storytelling techniques. With decades of experience in music and film, I lead Noisemaker Media with a future-forward approach—challenging audiences, amplifying creative voices, and expanding the boundaries of media in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Beyond my work as a creator, I have spent over a decade as an educator in higher education, specializing in cinematography, video editing, sound design, visual effects, and media studies. My teaching philosophy is grounded in critical thinking, creative risk-taking, and an unyielding commitment to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. As a thought leader in education, I have not only mentored students but also challenged traditional academic frameworks, advocating for a more dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to learning. I believe education should evolve alongside creative industries, integrating emerging technologies and media platforms to equip the next generation with the tools they need to redefine storytelling. My work as an educator extends beyond the classroom, engaging in discussions on the future of media, the intersection of technology and art, and the role of education in fostering innovation.

At my core, I am committed to shaping a new creative language—one that merges music, experimental cinema, and emerging media to inspire, challenge, and redefine how we experience stories. Whether through sound, visual media, or interactive platforms, my goal is to push beyond convention, transforming artistic expression into an immersive, thought-provoking experience.
